MISSION To provide immediate crisis intervention to crime victims
throughout El Paso, Texas in an efficient and compassionate
manner
To provide assistance to victims, including benefits
such as, Texas Crime Victim Compensation and referral to
local community agencies |

| ACTIVITIES
- Provide crisis intervention, stabilization and emotional
support at the crime scene 24 hours a day, seven
days a week

- Provide information and referral to state and local agencies

- Assist victims with filing applications for Texas Crime
Victims’ Compensation

- Assist with death notifications

- Recruit, train, and maintain a pool of volunteers
|

| Case Managers
provide client services to citizens throughout El Paso and are
assisted in their duties by a dedicated pool of volunteers. |
| VOLUNTEERS
|
Trained
volunteers are vital to the VSRT program. They are on-call
Tuesdays (from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.), Fridays and Saturdays (from
7 p.m. to 3 a.m.), and Sundays (from 7 pm to 11 p.m.) to assist
officers at the scene of a crime. The volunteers respond to
incidents of domestic violence, sexual assault, homicides,
traffic fatalities, as well as natural deaths, disasters, and
any time officers request their assistance.
Volunteers receive
80 hours of training about the Department’s functions,
use of police radios, crime victims’ compensation, crisis
intervention, death notification, and other areas of victim
advocacy.

HOW
TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER
VSRT
volunteers must be at least 21 years old, pass a thorough
background check, and have a compassionate heart. Applications
are available at Police Headquarters, 911 N. Raynor St.,
at any time. Call in January for spring training schedule. Volunteers
must complete 80 hours of training in various aspects of
the Department as well as specialized training in victim
