Law Enforcement Exploring is a program for both male and female young adults and is run in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America.  The program focuses on orienting young adults to law enforcement operations and establishes an awareness of the complexities of police service.

Program objectives:
  • Further the Explorer's education

  • Encourage Explorer participation in rewarding and productive service activity

  • Enhance Explorer preparation for future roles as citizens and community leaders

  • Life skills learning

Adult Advisors:

Adult advisors are volunteers who make up the adult leadership team for the Explorer program.  The leadership team consists of an advisor, associate advisors, post committee participants and consultants.

Adult advisors must complete the Adult Explorer Leader Basic Training Program.

Interested adults should complete a Program Capability Inventory form and turn it in to their Police Regional Command Center.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Membership in Law Enforcement Explorer posts is open to young adults ages 14 through 20.  Below are additional requirements for eligibility:

  • Parental Support, including signatures of the Explorers and their parents on a general liability release form.

  • Completion of a background check.

  • A scholastic standard requiring minimum grades for entry and continuance.

  • Annual registration fee of $7.00

Insurance

Registered Explorers are covered by the BSA liability insurance policy.
