Before the initial accreditation in 2006, the Department shipped narcotics evidence to the Department of Public Safety Laboratory for testing. The ability to perform these tests “in house” and later testify in court as to their results has significantly reduced the time, as well as the costs, involved in this process. The Laboratory maintains a flawless score on yearend reviews, which is a great example of the hard work the Lab’s civilian and sworn employees do on a daily basis.
