amount not to exceed $1,632,809 for hiring firefighters to enhance the safety
of the Fire Department to protect the community from fire and fire-related
hazards; matching funds required from a recipient city in order to qualify for
the award in the amount necessary to fully fund the retention of the
SAFER-funded fire fighters for one full year after the end of the period of
