El Paso artists
Katie Gelinas and Terry Wright created the
mural, World Safari
which was dedicated on November 6, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the
Esperanza Acosta Moreno Regional Library.
The tiles used in the mural were created by
community members during a storytime
program/workshop on July 17, 2010, that was
lead by the artists.
This mural was
funded through a grant from the
Museum &
Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) Community
Arts Program (CAP). CAP is a
competitive funding source for local artists
and arts organizations for arts projects and
performances in schools, neighborhoods, and
community spaces. The program allows for El
Paso citizens to interact with artists and
projects in their neighborhoods, outside of
traditional gallery or performance settings.
Framing and hanging of the mural was funded
by the El Paso Public Library and the
Friends of the Esperanza Acosta Moreno
Library.. |
