I was introduced to photography when I
became the photographer of the yearbook in
my senior year in a small private school. It
happened almost by accident. I was asked to
join the class on my junior year, just a
couple of weeks before summer break because
I had taken my very first digital camera to
school. The Yearbook Staff was in need of
photographs and the ones I took that day
were published that same year. |
|
| After I
graduated I worked as a volunteer for the
high school for the next three years and as
a freelance photographer doing weddings,
quinceañeras, and other events. |
|
I began taking
pictures of the city starting in downtown El
Paso. Since then, my photographs of the city
have been exhibited in different galleries
and have been published in a couple of
books.
I found in photography a language that
everybody could not only understand, but
feel. When I look at my photographs I do not
only see images. I see my memories, the
place where I live, the places I like to go
to, my friends and people I love. I see the
story of my life and of the city I live in
as well. |
