Tobacco Prevention:  771-5751

  • Get Real About Tobacco:  a tobacco awareness and prevention curriculum for grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. There are up to ten lessons per grade level and presentations can be done as single lessons or multiple lessons depending on the time available.  There is also a parent lesson available to assist parents in sharing tobacco information with their children.
    • Target audience:
      • Elementary-aged students and their parents
      • At-risk students
      • Middle and high school students
      • Health Fair display and participation about the dangers of tobacco products.
      • Technical assistance for cities considering passing smoke-free ordinances.

HIV Prevention
Public Health Supervisor:  Irene Ovalle

HIV Prevention Program: 771-5894 or 771-5879 
Goal is to reduce the number of HIV positive individuals by providing Protocol Based Counseling and Testing. The program provides HIV Awareness and Outreach.
This program will provide free HIV and Syphilis testing during Walk-in Clinics:
  • Tuesday & Wednesday 8:00 - 11:00 and 1:00 - 4:00 at 5115 El Paso Drive.  
  • Friday 1:00-4:00 at 222 S. Campbell

The goal of the MPowerment program (M-Factor) is to reduce the rates of unprotected sex and the spread of HIV among young gay/bi-sexual men by fostering connections among men to build positive social connections and support safer sex.
