El Paso Fire Department
Administration

The City of El Paso entered into a lease agreement with Hyundai of El Paso. The City leased the Fire Department Headquarters located at 8600 Montana to Hyundai. This allowed the car dealership to expand its operations and also consolidate with their service shop. The City moved the Fire Department Headquarters into the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad Building located at 416 N. Stanton. The Fire Department has leased 2 1/2 floors of the building. The cost of the City’s lease is fully offset by the lease being paid by Hyundai El Paso for the former headquarters. The Fire Department’s Maintenance and Logistics divisions remain at the Montana location. Future plans are to once again merge all the divisions into one location.

Map The El Paso and Southwestern Building was built in 1906 and served as the Headquarters for the El Paso and Southwestern Railroad until it was bought by The Southern Pacific Railroad Line in1924. The Southern Pacific owned the building until it sold it in 1969. The building was designated a Texas Historical Building in 1981. The building now houses BanaMex Bank on the first floor, some law offices and other business offices in addition to the Fire Headquarters. The Fire Headquarters are located on the 2nd, 3rd and part of the 5th floors.
