2008 – 2013 Strategic Plan Initiative

In 2008, Environmental Services developed a five year Strategic Plan for 2008 – 2013.  The Strategic Plan states the Department’s strategic destination and provides an outline for achieving it. Key components of the Plan are as follows:

By 2013, Environmental Services will be a recognized international leader in environmental health and safety by practicing innovation and providing exceptional customer service.

Issue Statements/Goals

  1. A strong customer-focus must be evident in all that we do.

Goal:  Achieve a world-class customer satisfaction rating of 80% by 2013.

The department must unite to create a positive and proud work environment.

Goal:  Become a high performing organization in terms of employee satisfaction ratings of at or above 80% by 2011.

   
  3. Leadership in environmental issues and sustainability must be practiced.

Goal:  Achieve recognition as an environmental leader by achieving a waste diversion rate of 25% and quantifying and reducing the carbon footprint by 2013.

     
  4. Financial viability must be achieved.

Goal:  Reduce the departmental deficit by 20% annually and achieve financial stability by 2013.

     
  5. Operational efficiency and productivity must be improved.

Goal:  Increase operational efficiency and productivity to exceed industry standards by 2013.
